Since Microsoft released Windows 10, they have pushed Windows 7 and 8 user to upgrade to Windows 10. Maybe you don’t want to upgrade your current Windows. But unfortunately GWX (Get Windows 10) notification could bother you because it sometime provide pop-ups notifications.
Actually Microsoft already provided an official step how to remove GWX through registry. It could be useful for someone don’t want to upgrade to Windows 10 and remove annoying Get Windows 10 pop-ups.
Are you one of them, just open your registry editor and once you are there, you need to add two parameter to remove the notification.
The first parameter is disable upgrade and you need to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – SOFTWARE – Policies – Microsoft – Windows . Then add new key by clicking Edit – New – Key – WindowsUpdate. In the WindowsUpdate create new DWORD (32 bit) with name DisableOSUpgrade and give the value 1 hexadecimal on it.
Second parameter is to disable Get Window 10 and you need to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – SOFTWARE – Policies – Microsoft – Windows again. Then you need to create new key with name GWX. In the GWX you need to create new DWORD (32 bit) with name DisableGWX and set value data to 1 Hexadecimal and click Ok to finalize it.
Next you need to reboot your computer it to apply the registry modifications and surely Get Windows 10 will disappear permanently. I hope this tutorial will make you more comfortable with your computer.
